Keep Calm and Carry On

Already a 21st century icon, despite being created in the 20th century as part of wartime propaganda, the Keep Calm and Carry On poster has been wider reproduced and parodied.

I thought it was something that had always existed in the public domain, with it’s recent popularity being something of a fad. Little did I know it was only discovered in 2000, having never been publicly released during wartime.

Barter Books now tells this story in their own video.

What an awesome looking bookshop.

History’s Greatest Badass?

Who is history’s greatest badass? According to a Quora question, it’s Theodore Roosevelt. And with good reason:

After being blinded in one eye during a boxing match, Roosevelt switched to judo, training 3 times a week in the White House basement under Yamashita Yoshiaki, and becoming America’s first brown belt.

The full answer from Edwin Kite is absolutely worth the read.

Taken from the International Space Station, this time-lapse shows storms over Africa, as well as the Milky Way passing in the background.

Everything Can Fly

In a wonderful advert from Avios, everyday objects are made to fly. It has the look of recent Honda or Toshiba ads, in fact I was surprised when I first saw it that it wasn’t from Honda.

Checked Luggage Journey

Every wondered what happens to your luggage after you check it in at the airport? Thanks to Delta Air Lines and a case with six cameras mounted it in, you can wonder no longer.

Little Printer

Despite my drive to go completely paperless over the last year or so, this ridiculously cute printer from BERG Cloud is very tempting.

Run from a mobile app, it’s great for todo lists, shopping lists or mini-newsletters from friends and family. More on their website.

Urbanized

Stream it in the player below, or see it in cinemas now, the new film from Helvetica and Objectified creator Gary Hustwit: Urbanized.

Disclosure: Distrify are one of my awesome clients, providing film distribution to indie filmmakers the world over.

Address Is Approximate

A touching video from Tom Jenkins made using toys in stop-motion, and Google Streetview.

I love the section with desk lamps as passing streetlights.
